Sonnet I
01:01
|
|||
What should be last in our minds,
Takes hold and comes first.
Addicted to shimmer and shine,
We find a way to quench our thirst.
What happened to the story
Developing scene by scene,
The people that fought with glory
To abolish all things obscene?
Take the time to realize
The problems now at hand.
What is to come is our demise
If only we could understand.
Our minds became receptacles
Spoiled with spectacle.

Falling Asleep
03:24
|
|||
Listen to lines, and I'm slightly reminded of the sound of silence that's holding me in.
Like smoke that makes you seem crazy or lazy; is it letting you out?
Falling asleep at the wheel
Falling asleep at the wheel
Lose track of time and I don't spend it wisely, no.
Where does my money go?
Wasting my life, wake up and repeat it, the day sits at my feet.
But, how I can't see that these changes take time?
Falling asleep at the wheel
Falling asleep at the wheel
Track down my reasoning, quick nap at 55; two loops on these machines, well, I should not drive.
Focus! What's happening? This far without my eye - I am slipping rapidly, survival is surprised.
Falling asleep at the wheel
Falling asleep at the wheel
Falling asleep at the wheel
Falling asleep at the wheel

So So
02:59
|
|||
The drugs you've only yet to take
Are now what cause your hands to shake.
A love you felt a year ago,
returns within a song you know.
The bonds you hoped to bend and break,
they hold the strength that it would take.
Soon the harvest that you grow
becomes the very seed you Sew/ -
So far, so good.
So near that bad is more than just a word.
So long to short and shallow souls.
So it goes.
So-so.
So when a mother loves her child
She throws him out into the wild
And hopes that he will stumble on
the very feet he walks upon
Exactly three point turns of fate,
Will send you right back to the place
where it told you "You ought to go
and tear out every stitch you Sew/" -
So far, so good.
So near that bad is more than just a word.
So long to short and shallow souls.
So it goes...
So addiction's a superstition;
Contradictions make me choke.
I hold my breath for graveyards,
But I fill my lungs with smoke.
So far, so good.
So near that bad is more than just a word.
So long to short and shallow souls,
So it goes.
So it goes,
So it goes,
So So.

Graveyards
03:56
|
|||
When it rains, and the train leaves at 2:15 a.m.
And the sound lettin' out of this old sleepy town.
Oh it sings, and it rings of the freedom
That once was, that once was held with these hands.
But someday soon, that same old song will find me.
Like graveyard gold dug up, it's all in the timing.
Organic inspiration outdated by demand of less thought;
Drum up stale muck, elated to slice a piece off.
And it screams, and it rings of the slavery
That once was, and soon could, be set free.
But someday soon, that same old song will find me.
Like graveyard gold dug up, it's all in the timing.
When it rains, and the train leaves at 2:15 a.m.
And the sound lettin' out of this old sleepy town.
Oh it sings, and it rings of the freedom
That once was that once was held with these hands
But someday soon, that same old song will find me.
Like graveyard gold dug up, it's all in the timing.

When I Leave Here
06:09
|
|||
Along the road of shackled souls,
A lack of life in those helpless holes
Stuck to sticking to one lonely role
And fooling yourself into alive.
Well they say one plan from just one man
Can change the hands of time.
But can I choose? Lord, I'd rather lose
Than to fall into a lie.
Will I wake up in the mornin'?
I almost don't wanna know.
If I leave here for the evenin',
Might as well just let me roll.
If it steals me without warnin'
And there's not much left to show,
Then you just pick up where I left off...
Before I had to go.
Satisfied is just an idea of who we were told to be.
Don't concentrate on not bein' late to every last appointment that you make.
Well you'll have your doubts, you just write about it and the way you see the world.
Tales so tall, just collect and crawl and share them all some day.
Will I wake up in the mornin'?
I almost don't wanna know.
If I leave here for the evenin'
Might as well just let me roll.
If it steals me without warnin'
And I've got not much left to show
You just pickup where I left off...
Before I had to go.
I don't know when, but there comes an end, oh a middle and beginning.
And how it reads as they spread the sheet, oh will you believe in me on down the line?
Will you lift your head when they declare me dead?
And don't you dare to cry.
They set me up real nice at the top in that great Grand Ol' Opry in the sky
Will I wake up in the mornin'?
I almost don't wanna know.
If I leave here for the evenin'
Might as well just let me roll.
If it steals me without warnin'
And I've got not much left to show
You just pickup where I left off...
Before I had to go.

In My Room
03:40
|
|||
When we die, wherever we go,
I hope we know we're not dreaming.
Maybe we'll cry; then when the tears flow
They'll feel real, though not quite the same.
Then, we'll know.
Wipe your eyes, weeping's for weak folk.
Gather your strength up, walk to the door.
Tell no lies, clearing out your throat;
Hoping you don't choke on your own words.
Then, you spoke:
"I think of what I could have been -
God damn!
I think of what I could have been..."
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows
When we die, wherever we go,
I hope we know we're not dreaming.
Maybe we'll cry; then when the tears flow,
They'll feel real, though not quite the same.
Then, we will know.
"I think of what I could have been -
God damn.
I think of what I could have been..."
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows
I'll stay right here, inside my room,
No one knows, no one knows

Troubled Son
03:31
|
|||
Well I'm broke down and busted in a blue coupe Chevrolet;
Flat broke and buskin’ is how I make my way.
Don't know where I'm headed, I don't know if I'll stay;
But you run from the devil and hope that you can get away.
The bullet from the gun,
Oh that rebel on the run,
Troubled son
Well I'm caught up and flushin' with two stacks on five cards;
I'm dead low on lovin', lonely livin' gets so hard.
I'm dry off the whiskey, but wishin' is the worst part.
Well I thought I was broken, but turns out it was just my heart.
Like the bullet from the gun,
Oh that rebel on the run,
Troubled son

Learning to Love
05:59
|
|||
Dear God, I hope I'm forgiven
For all the things that I do and say.
I know this life that I'm living
Will only serve to end my days.
I see the teacher after class;
I make a joke and she laughs.
Then, that night when I'm in bed,
I play it over and over in my head.
Then, while I'm swimming in my thoughts,
I seem to understand what it means to be a man.
Yeah, I carry everything at once.
I'll take a hit, I'll throw a punch,
I feel much stronger than I am.
And I am learning to love,
Learning to love myself,
Learning to love.
Learning to love,
Learning to love ourselves.
Most days I don't feel like myself;
I feel strange and I need help.
I am alone, I have no purpose.
I'm in pain and I deserve it.
You still love me all the while,
I wanna cry.
All my family and friends,
Just cause you gave me a chance,
I am a better man.
I am learning to love,
Learning to love myself.
Learning to love
(Learning to love) Learning to love
(Learning to love ourselves) Learning to love ourselves
(Learning to love) Learning to love
(Learning to love) Learning to love
(Learning to love ourselves) Learning to love ourselves
Learning to love
Every breath you take,
I breathe in.
It's such a pleasant taste,
I'll remember it as long as I live.
Every breath you take,
I breathe in.
(Learning to love)
Every breath you take,
(Learning to love ourselves)
I breathe in.
(Learning to love)
It's such a pleasant taste,
I'll remember it as long as I live.
(Learning to love)
Every breath you take,
(Learning to love ourselves, learning to love)
I breathe in.
(Learning to love) Learning to love,
(Learning to love ourselves) Learning to love myself,
(Learning to love) Learning to love
(We're just) Learning to love,
Learning to love ourselves,
Learning to love.

Life; Understood
03:12
|
|||
Stones on a path laid out before us
(That's all it is)
Lost in the past laid down behind us
(That's all it is)
Breaking a mold crafted in carelessness
(That's all it is, that's all it is)
To be healed and inspired
By the drugs and the fires of love, love, love, love.
To be broken and cryin',
Laughin' and smilin',
it's love, love, love, love, love.
The sun wants to shine way up above us
(That's all it is)
We don't need no light, the fire guides us
(That's all it is)
Changing a life run down in hopelessness
(That's all it is, that's all it is)
To be healed and inspired
By the drugs and the fires of love, love, love, love.
To be broken and cryin'
Laughin' and smilin'
It's love, love, love, love, love, love (That's all it is)
*Love
Love (That's all it is) *
*Repeats To End*

Eli's Song
05:27
|
|||
I saw you today in the reflection of a rose on my windshield,
And I slowed down long enough to cry.
Can't go a day, it seems, without you crossing my mind.
And I'd leave it to you if you had the time
I'd leave it to you if you had the time.
I heard you say "Ohhhhh Baby" In a crowd of people I don't know.
I turned around, expecting to see your face,
And I'd say it was you if you had the time.
I'd leave it to you if you had the time.
I missed you today under that old Oak tree,
At the patch of grass where you lay.
I came to write down some things I had left to say,
And I'd leave em to you if you had the time.
I'd leave em to you if you had the time.
I saw you today in the reflection of a rose on my windshield.
And I slowed down long enough to cry.
